Tatachilla and St Hallett to do it together

Tatachilla and St Hallett, two of the most dynamic small to medium-sized wine companies in South Australia, have agreed to merge to become a genuine contender in the medium-sized winery stakes. The joint crush of the two companies will come in above 10,000 tonnes, driven primarily by the growth of Tatachilla, which has increased in tonnage from 740 tonnes in 1992 to about 6,400 tonnes in 1999. Both companies have much in common, since they have both restored historic century-old wineries and have captured a respectable share of the middle market in quality bottled wine. In addition to the vineyards in the ‘home’ regions of the Barossa, Eden Valley and McLaren Vale, the company will have access to fruit from Clare, Langhorne Creek, Padthaway and the Adelaide Hills.
