There’s something very distinctive about riesling in a magnum, especially when the bottle’s a sleek, antique green offering of Italian design all of 48 cm tall. Andrew Pirie has filled a number of such containers with his Pipers Brook Riesling 1997 which he likens to the excellent 1995, and has allocated them to select retail outlets for $72 a piece. You won’t throw the empty away!
