Seppelt’s Confusing Trophyfest

Those involved in marketing the unusual and diverse range of wines under the Seppelt banner will have had their lives made both easier and more difficult with the brand’s performance at Canberra, where it won no less than five trophies. The winning wines were: Seppelt Eden Valley Riesling 1984 (best table wine), Seppelt Great Western Vineyard Shiraz 1998 (best shiraz 1998 and Older), Seppeltsfield Show Amontillado DP96 (best sherry), Seppelt Rutherglen Tokay DP59 (best sweet white fortified) and Seppelt Show Sparkling Shiraz 1994 (best bottle fermented sparkling red). I have no doubt whatsoever that if anyone sees some form of logic or pattern in these results, a call to Seppelt’s marketing division would be greatly appreciated.
