At the recent Pinot Noir New Zealand 2001 conference in Wellington, one of New Zealand’s most respected winemakers mentioned in front of four hundred delegates that one of the great competitive advantages his country’s wine producers enjoyed when doing business in this region was the new Australian tax system, especially the so-called Wine Equalisation Tax. I wonder how Australian winemakers will feel when they read this?
