The best figures currently available for wine export growth, provided by ABARE (the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics), suggest an increase from 521 million litres in 2002/2003 to 921 million litres by 2007/2008, and increase of around 80%. Over this time the value of exports is expected to increase by around 70% from A$2.5 billion to A$4.2 billion. This suggests that wine exports could double by volume and value by 2010, exceeding the value of all other Australian rural commodity exports.
