A Yellowglen fizz has won a national competition of 58 entries as part of the Sydney International Wine Competition to find the Australia Day Council’s Sparkling Wine of the Year. The Vintage Pinot Noir Chardonnay 1994 is now lined up to be served as the offical sparkling wine at all Australia Day functions on 26 January, including the Australian of the Year presentation at Melbourne’s Myer Music Bowl. A gold medal winner at the Adelaide Wine Show, this blend of 70% pinot noir and 30% chardonnay was sourced from the Adelaide Hills, the Yarra Valley, the Strathbogie Ranges and Coonawarra. It is widely available for around $17.
