South-East Asia is taking to the wines of Bordeaux like there is no tomorrow. Bordeaux exports to the five most important countries have doubled in the last two years, sending a strong warning to Australian makers who might have considered themselves natural suppliers to Asia. Between 1995 and 1995 volumes sold to Hong Kong have increased by 209.7% by volume and 185.2% by value and to Thailand by 113% by volume and 78.8% by value. Asian markets are compensating to some degree to declining sales of Bordeaux wines in northern Europe and Canada.
