A superb, slightly rustic and musky shiraz whose deeply layered perfume of black, blue and red berries, tight-knit French oak, pepper and clove reveals a hint of bubblegum, graphite and mineral. Pristine and artfully balanced, with a mouthwatering grip of drying, gravelly tannin beneath its vibrant core of fruit, it finishes with exceptional length, freshness and a firm, mineral and savoury edge. Tasted more than eight years later, its elegance, balance and mouthwatering freshness remain fully intact, with some charmingly evolved meaty, mineral and gamey complexity. However, it remains a fruit-driven wine of longevity and balance.

Castagna
Castagna is one of BeechworthŐs clan of high-quality and high-elevation small vineyards. Sangiovese performed best from the cooler 2015 season, with an artful La Chiave and a finer, more elegant Un Segreto. Castagna's whites are made in a more evolved and oxidative style, being already quite complex and ready to enjoy by time of release. The first vintage of Barbarossa Nebbiolo Đ a very convincing wine from 2015 Đ suggests that this variety might have also discovered a new home.
