A benchmark Eden Valley riesling whose faintly oily aromas of lime, lemon tart, musky spices and white Turkish delight reveal suggestions of minerals and a whiff of smokiness. It’s long, sumptuously fruited and mouthfilling, with a superb core of citrus and apple skin fruit that extends down a gentle slate/mineral/bathpowder spine towards a fresh, faintly saline finish of refreshing acids and a lingering smoky mineral note. Great persistence and balance; set for the long term.

Peter Lehmann
Now owned by the Casella family, whose YellowTail label is one of the most extraordinary success stories in the history of wine, Peter Lehmann has the chance for a regroup. This has been one of the most consistent and influential Australian wine brands since the mid 1980s, but recent marketing decisions have resulted in no less than fifteen different sub-brands, several of which compete against each other in the same retail space. Couple this with a legacy of constantly changing names and labels and I'll admit to total confusion -Ę and it's my job to try and understand these things! I hope that the new marketing team are able to rationalise and simplify the Lehmann offerings for the wines certainly deserve their chance.
