Here’s a wine that changes quite dramatically after some prolonged aeration, after which its true expression of grapefruit, lemon and chalkiness emerges, allowing its initial presence of yellow peach and nectarine to settle into the background. After some time its length, drive and focus emerges, with brittleness and tightness to give it shape. In all, it’s a complex, heavily worked chardonnay that will develop over time, but which still lacks the genuine polish and layers of flavour and texture for an even higher rating.
