It’s plush and polished, medium to fullish in weight and underpinned by a fine, loose-kit backbone. The oak reveals just a little too much pine needle for an even higher rating.

Firstly it was Frankland Estate's collection of European-inspired Rieslings that captured popular attention, but these days its red wines are of near-comparable merit. Let by an outstanding Olmo's Reward and Isolation Ridge Vineyard shiraz, the reds have developed wonderful elegance and balance, based on better viticulture and vines of greater maturity. The Riesling collection continues to provide me with one of the more enjoyable tasting experiences in Australian wine.
