It’s sumptuous and densely packed, revealing an exceptional length and drive of dark fruit and polished oak now developing cedary and cigarboxy complexity. Firm and structural, it finishes dry and mineral, flaunting the quality and balance to improve for at least one more decade.

Domaine A
Domaine A is the label for the small volumes of handcrafted top echelon wines from the Stoney Vineyard in the Coal River Valley established by Peter Althaus and now owned by Moorilla Estate's David Walsh. Extraordinarily for a Tasmanian vineyard, its most consistent performer is its Cabernet Sauvignon, which in more vintages than not has acquired the depth of flavour and structure one might expect from a fine Bordeaux growth. It is way too early to see the influence of this brand's new winemaking team headed by Conor van de Reest, but I remain very confident that the vineyard is again in excellent hands.
