Tiring, advanced and out of shape. Smoky, charry aromas of caramel, fig, melon and butter precede an oily, rather developed palate with a viscous, toffee-like presence of preserved lemon rind flavour. It finishes with a hint of bitterness and a soft acidity.
A youthful, elemental shiraz whose briary aromas of cassis, blackberries, dark plums and smoky dark chocolate oak are lifted by spicy, peppery notes and reveal meaty, charcuterie-like undertones. Full to medium-bodied, it’s rather oaky in its youth, with a withdrawn presence of blackberries, dark plums, cassis and blueberries tightly knit with cedar/chocolate oak and underpinned by a firm but fine and crunchy backbone. It just needs time for its components to integrate, its acids to soften and for its savoury aspects to become more pronounced.
Dark and smoky, with deep, spicy aromas of plums and berries backed by earthy, mineral notes. Long and deeply flavoured, with length and drive, it seamlessly marries dark fruits with chocolatey oak and meaty undertones, culminating in a measured, savoury finish.
Meaty, smoky and earthy aromas of blackberries, redcurrants, dark plums are supported by assertive dark chocolate/cedary oak, revealing suggestions of mineral, plumcake, dried herbs, charcuterie meats and cola. Slow to open up, it’s round and sumptuous, unfolding deep, dark fruits, suggestions of roasting meats, handsome oak and a firm, drying backbone. Give it as much time as you can.
Heady, and alluring, with a deep, floral scent of blackberries, dark plums, redcurrants and cedary oak backed by suggestions of charcuterie meats, licorice and exotic spice with hint of dried herbs and and ferrous, mineral notes. Medium to fullish in weight with a drying, mineral backbone of crunchy tannin, it’s moderately long and brightly lit, with a vivacious core of vibrant, almost translucent dark fruit that finishes savoury with just a hint of sappiness.
Pristine and perfumed, heady and floral, with alluring scents of rose petals, lavender, small red and blue berries backed by gentle oak, a suggestion of dried herbs and a whiff of citrus oil. Underpinned by very supple, pliant tannins that will build more strength and firmness with bottle age, itÕs presently vivacious and steeped in fruit, charmingly elegant and gentle. It finishes with a lingering core of fruit and impressions of exotic spice.
A remarkable wine that unfolds layers of exotic perfume and spice, sumptuous fruit and a charming fatness, driving strong and emphatically down a fine, powdery backbone. Scented with aromas of citrus and dried rose petals, itÕs wild and nutty; a savoury and textural experience that becomes most emphatic towards the back of the palate, filling it with suggestions of rose water and musk, before extending with delightful length and softness.
Heady and ripe; deeply scented with yellow peach, pear and white Turkish delight lifted by sweet, spicy and faintly smoky scents of rose petals and musk. Simultaneously luscious and elegant, it’s long and complete, with a beautiful, unctuous core of intense, sweetly fruited flavour and nougat-like creaminess that moves down a fine, powdery backbone towards a mouthwatering, savoury finish. There’s something of the fruit expression of its stablemate Chardonnay about this wine.
