Creamy, complex ands alluring, this charming chardonnay opens a bouquet of brioche, baked apple, nougat and lemon blossom. It's medium in body, already becoming deliciously toasty and creamy, extending long and crackly towards a savoury, dry finish of refreshing acidity. There's a pleasing crunch about the bead, while the palate reveals a fine minerality. Really a classy wine, and at $70 retail is super competitive in terms of price.

Shane Holloway and Fran Austin are a young couple who have turned up in Northern Tasmania from the Adelaide Hills and Kalgoorlie (WA) respectively. Their combined experience and the track record they have already assembled at Delamere suggests that this will be a label worth watching, potential already realised from the 2012 vintage onwards. While the non-vintage sparkling wines are well worthy of attention, I have a very soft spot for the very stylish and savoury vintage Blanc de Blanc, even if the 2012 edition was perhaps a little heavily worked for its depth of fruit and forward nature.
